My two year old daughter Abby never ceases to amaze me. She is bright beyond her years (I have to say that, I’m her mom), and like all young kids, she speaks the truth.
A few months ago we were playing around and I asked her: “Who loves you?,” fully expecting her answer to be: Mommy!
But to my surprise, her answer was an emphatic: “ABBY!”
So, I asked her: “Who else loves you?” Her response was (in no particular order): mommy, daddy, her brother, her sister, our dog, her babysitter and her grandparents.
What I love most about her answer is that the first person who came to mind when I asked her that question was herself.
As an adult, I have a lot to learn from her. For many of us, the notion of “self love” is a tough one to grasp. I know I’m working on that very concept even as I write this blog.
I am now going to turn the question over to you: Who loves you? Where would your own name appear on your list?
